March 2014 – Regional Chamber Testifies in Support of “Reinvest in Washington Jobs Act”
On March 7, Tri-City Regional Chamber President & CEO Lori Mattson and Government & Economic Affairs Coordinator Austin Neilson testified before the House Finance Committee in support of the “Reinvest in Washington Jobs Act” (SSB 6515).  The bill, introduced by Senator Sharon Brown (R-Kennewick) would take a new approach to economic development by allowing employers to claim a Business & Occupation (B&O) tax credit only after they have made investments to create jobs in Washington State and increase training for employees.  The bill has strong bipartisan support and passed the Senate on March 4 on a 45-2 vote.

February 2014 - Regional Chamber and Citizens for P.O.W.E.R. Testify
During February, the Regional Chamber and Citizens for P.O.W.E.R. testified before committees in the House and Senate in support of legislation that would allow federal hydro efficiency improvements to count as renewable energy under the state’s Energy Independence Act (EIA).

February 2014 - Farm Bill Passage Press Conference
Senator Maria Cantwell visited the Tri-Cities to celebrate the passing of the farm bill on February 20, 2014. Tri-City Regional Chamber of Commerce President and CEO, Lori Mattson, joined Senator Cantwell, grape and fruit growers, WSU researchers, and the Washington Apple Commission in Benton City for a press conference.

February 2014 - Annual Tri-Cities Legislative Trip To Olympia
The Tri-City Regional Chamber of Commerce, along with the Tri-Cities Legislative Council, traveled to Olympia to meet with state representatives to promote the Tri-Cities region and discuss critical issues affecting our region's businesses.

February 2014 - Presentation Before House Transportation Committee
In February, Lori Mattson. President & CEO of the Tri-City Regional Chamber of Commerce, and Austin Neilson, Government & Economic Affairs Coordinator, traveled to Olympia and gave a presentation before the House Transportation Committee to outline the transportation and infrastructure needs of the entire Tri-Cities Region.
