Tri-Cities Regional Facts

The Tri-Cities MSA is the 4th Largest Metropolitan Statistical Area in the state of Washington.  The Tri-Cities is located in southeast Washington and is situated at the confluence of the Columbia, Snake and Yakima Rivers.  With a population of 248,400, the major communities are Kennewick, Pasco, Richland and West Richland.

Climate

The Tri-City region enjoys approximately 300 days of sunshine per year. With a pleasant desert climate typified by warm summers and moderate winter temperatures, the Tri-Cities region has a markedly different weather pattern than locations on the coastal side of the Cascade Mountains, and more moderate seasons than many other inland locations.  Although climatically a desert, the Tri-Cities area has an abundance of water.  The Columbia, Snake and Yakima Rivers are central to the area’s agricultural production, and are an important component to the variety of recreational activities available in the region.
