The Seattle Daily Journal of Commerce wrote an article featuring the two new high schools currently underway for Pasco School District. One of the schools – Orion High School, originally named the Career & College Academy – was designed by DWA and is scheduled for completion next year. It will be built on Salt Lake Street in east Pasco, near Curie STEM Elementary School. Design West Architects designed this school, which will be two stories and around 65,000 square feet, with the capacity to serve 600 students. The price tag is around $38 million and will be fully covered by the bond measure. The base construction contract is estimated to be $32 million. The scope of work includes utilities, site work, structures, finishes, fire protection, mechanical, and electrical work. Design West Architects told the DJC the school's final design was crafted with input from business and industry leaders, teachers, parents, and students.
