Members of the Heartland Diversity Council at our Memphis, Tennessee, and Birmingham, Alabama, terminals pulled together to make a meaningful impact on local women’s shelters. The Birmingham team partnered with Jessie’s Place and the Memphis team partnered with YWCA of Memphis. Together, the teams donated supplies and essentials to their women’s shelters with the intention of supporting those in need while honoring the strength and resilience of women everywhere. #communityinvolvement #NationalVolunteerWeek

Our people are part of a team that strives to be the best in everything we do, and we honor their accomplishments at our annual Employees of the Year ceremony. This year’s ceremony was held April 24 in Fort Worth, where we recognized those who raised the bar in safety, service and innovation in 2023. We highlighted the business achievements of 313 employees, as well as 35 “Best of the Best” leaders whose teams accomplished injury-free performance throughout 2023. We also applauded four Safety Employees of the Year, an elite group of BNSF railroaders modeling the way in safety. Congratulations and thank you to our 2023 Employees of the Year! #freight #rail

We're proud to participate with The American Train Dispatchers Association (ATDA) and the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) in a pilot program of the Confidential Close Call Reporting System (C3RS). The program will allow BNSF train dispatchers represented by ATDA to report close call events confidentially through a non-punitive process. Reports will be de-identified and sent to a peer review team, which will then develop recommendations to help improve rail safety. “We hope this program will further empower our employees to provide confidential feedback on critical safety issues in an actionable, timely manner," BNSF President and CEO Katie Farmer said. We're proud to have amazing employees that give back to their communities, making a real difference in the lives of others. Thank you Jennifer Neu and the D&I team for all the great work you all accomplished. #NationalVolunteerWeek
As an employee of BNSF Railway, I have the unique opportunity to witness firsthand the incredible impact that corporate responsibility and community engagement can have. Today, I want to share my experience volunteering under the BNSF Railway D&I team with the Tarrant Area Food Bank partner agency, TCC Community Market. The TCC Community Market is not just a food distribution center; it's a beacon of hope for families facing food insecurity. It's a place where smiles are shared and support is given freely. Volunteering here, I've seen the difference that just a couple hours of my time can make in the lives of our neighbors. This experience is even more fulfilling because I'm part of a larger family at BNSF that values and encourages giving back to the community. BNSF's commitment to 'lifting up' communities is not just a cliché; it's a practice woven into the fabric of our company culture. I'm proud to work for BNSF, an organization that excels in the logistics industry and leads in community service. It reminds me that we, as a company and as individuals, have the power to make a positive change in the world. To my colleagues looking for a way to contribute, I highly recommend signing up with the TCC Community Market. It's an experience that enriches the soul and strengthens our community. And to those who already volunteered, thank you for being an inspiration and showing what it truly means to be part of the BNSF family. #WeAreBNSF #Volunteering #CommunityService #BNSF #TCCCommunityMarket #FoodInsecurity #CorporateResponsibility #MakingADifference #DiversityandInclusion

BNSF takes sustainability seriously, and that’s why we've committed to achieving a 30% reduction in greenhouse-gas emissions by 2030. One of the ways we’re working to achieve this goal is by continuing to improve the fuel efficiency of our locomotives. In honor of Earth Day, we look at our Tier 4 locomotives, the newest and cleanest-burning locomotives in North America. Amory, Mississippi, was brought to life in 1887 by Kansas City, Memphis and Birmingham Railroad officials who sought to connect Birmingham, Alabama, and Memphis, Tennessee. As the backbone of the city, BNSF predecessors played a pivotal role in Amory’s development. Today, BNSF still operates there and sponsors the yearly Railroad Festival. "Amory is a great place to live, and this town knows where its heritage comes from,” Robert Tribble, supervisor of engineering support, said. BNSF’s Galesburg, Illinois, yard has a rich history that extends back to the 1860s. Through the years, one family has accompanied the facility almost every step of the way. Today, Tim Worrell, assistant superintendent at the Galesburg terminal, represents the sixth generation of Worrell/Leahy family members to work here.
